is an ancient art form, which comes from many different
influences in the Middle East; it is traditionally taught within
the family as a social grace and is danced at many family
gatherings especially weddings and further is the popular folk
dance of these countries. Some influences have come from ancient
religious ritual; the dance of the Goddess and a fertility
dance.
Belly Dance has many positive aspects. First of all it is a
beautiful dance for women …it is graceful, creative and
increases body awareness, confidence, flexibility, strength,
stamina and fitness. Further it is useful for relaxation and
relieving ailments of many kinds and is an excellent preparation
for childbirth and postnatal recovery.
Beginner’s courses are held regularly throughout the year. The
course is over eight weeks in which one learns basic techniques
with introduction to dancing with a veil.
